    Consulted Law firm 1990-2016
I contacted Mr. Branum after I'd seen his posting about a FCC issue. I then called him and we spoke for about 15 mins about my situation. He then said he would do his best to help me. He asked me to text him some info about me and he'd call the next day to get more info. I waited a few weeks for that call and never got one. I then texted asking if he was still going to call because I hadn't heard from him. He replied back by saying he will send me a email shortly and he was sorry that he hadn't seen my texts. Week goes by and still no email. So I texted him again and this time got no reply at all. Then texted again, again no reply. I waited a month and texted again and its now been a week with no reply. So he just ghosted me. I am retired Army. I see he targets military law. I will not recommend him to any of my friends in the military or their family in the military.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
