Overview
Pete G. Serrata III began his legal career at as an associate attorney at Derryberry & Naifeh, L.L.P. under the tutelage of Bob Naifeh, Doug Rice and Larry Derryberry. Concentrating in the areas of insurance coverage, commercial litigation, and administrative law and utilities regulation, Pete has expanded his practice to include antitrust and veteran’s services.
Pete received his B.A. degree in Political Science in 2001 from the University of North Texas. In 2001, Pete was selected to receive the prestigious Hatton W. Sumners Foundation legal scholarship to attend the Oklahoma City University School of Law. After his military unit was recalled to service following the attacks of September 11th, Pete returned to Oklahoma City University where he completed his J.D. in 2006 graduating first in his class.
After practicing with the Firm from 2006 to 2012, Pete returned to the Oklahoma City University School of Law to serve as the Assistant Dean for Law Career Services. In addition to mentoring and preparing new professionals for careers in the legal practice, Pete practiced in the Law School’s pro bono projects and served on the adjunct faculty teaching courses in the Uniform Commercial Code, Pretrial Litigation and the Law of War.
Pete returned to Derryberry & Naifeh, L.L.P. in 2018 where he practices in the areas of insurance coverage, commercial litigation, administrative law, and public utilities regulation. In addition to more than a decade of experience as an attorney, Pete brings nearly eight years of experience as a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army where he served in the areas of counter intelligence, counter terrorism and strategic investigations. Pete is admitted before the Oklahoma Supreme Court, all Oklahoma Federal Courts, the Tenth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
