Daniel K Olsen - Bend, OR

Dan is a dedicated criminal defense attorney who provides strong, strategic representation to individuals facing serious charges. With extensive trial experience, he has defended clients in cases ranging from DUII offenses to complex felony and Measure 11 matters. Dan’s practice is built on careful listening, detailed case analysis, and customized defense planning. Whether seeking dismissal, negotiating favorable resolutions, or advocating in the courtroom, he remains focused on protecting his clients’ rights and futures.

Dan’s legal career has been shaped by years of hands-on courtroom work. He has spent more than three years representing clients in criminal defense matters involving everything from misdemeanors to homicide cases. Prior to shifting to defense work, he served as a Deputy District Attorney in Marion County, where he prosecuted property crimes, drug offenses, DUIIs, and serious person crimes under Measure 11. Earlier in his career, Dan practiced family law, handling divorce, custody, and child support matters, and later clerked for a Superior Court Judge in Anchorage, Alaska. He was admitted to the Alaska Bar in 2017 and the Oregon Bar in 2019.

Dan earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Whitworth University in Spokane, where he also competed as a collegiate baseball player. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Willamette University College of Law and remained actively involved in legal scholarship and advocacy. During law school, he served as Editor-in-Chief of Willamette Law Online, worked as an editor for the Willamette Journal of International Law and Dispute Resolution, and competed in Moot Court. He is a member of the Marion and Deschutes County Bar Associations and the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.

Outside of his legal practice, Dan values time with his wife and daughter and enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, golfing, hunting, and fishing. He is also a devoted fan of the Seattle Seahawks and Mariners and has a strong interest in the relationship between sports and law. This passion led him to launch a podcast that explores topics ranging from professional athletics to U.S. Supreme Court decisions.
