Attorney Information
Overview
Kortney Barnes started her legal career in the Bay Area for about four years before relocating to Bend in 2007. During her tenure there, she gained extensive experience in workers’ compensation, predominantly representing employers. Following her move to Bend, Kortney has worked with several San Francisco firms, engaging in complex antitrust class action cases and all aspects of Family Law, including divorce, parenting time, and custody matters.
Beyond her legal expertise, Kortney has a background in entrepreneurship, having founded and managed Bean, Pea & the Pumpkin, a meal delivery and catering company based in Bend.
Kortney’s passion for child advocacy was sparked during her second year of college, leading her to spend the summer working at Saint Elizabeth’s, a mental health hospital in Washington, D.C. During this time, she played a crucial role in monitoring the welfare of children in the ward and acted as a bridge between the hospital staff and protection and advocacy organization. This experience cemented Kortney’s commitment to pursuing a degree in Psychology from Stanford University.
Kortney has deep ties to Central Oregon, growing up in Sunriver and graduating from Bend Senior High. When not at work, you can often find Kortney enjoying the outdoors with her husband, three children, and two dogs, hiking, biking, paddling or skiing.
