Attorney Information

Overview

Daniel D. Hargreaves has represented clients throughout Pennsylvania for over two decades. He has spent significant parts of his career working for both private firms that focus on family law as well as non-profit organizations that provide essential legal services for our most vulnerable populations.

Daniel was born in Massachusetts and raised in New Hampshire. The importance of service, working hard, and helping others was instilled in him by his parents. Throughout his childhood, his mother worked as a registered nurse, and his father served as a law enforcement officer, while also owning and operating a dump truck.

After graduating from Pinkerton Academy in Derry, New Hampshire, in 1996, Daniel made his way to Philadelphia to attend Temple University. Daniel graduated summa cum laude in 2000 earning a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in Religion. Daniel also completed additional requirements for Temple’s Honors Program, as well as being awarded the university’s inaugural Raymond Whittaker Leadership Award.

Daniel decided to stay at Temple and attend its James E. Beasley School of Law, where he earned recognition in Trial Advocacy and several other courses, while writing for the Temple International and Comparative Law Journal. He graduated in May of 2003, passed the bar examination a few months later, and has assisted people with various legal challenges ever since.

A great majority of the cases handled by Daniel D. Hargreaves have fallen within the family law realm, which includes child custody, divorce, support, and Protection From Abuse matters. Through the years, Attorney Hargreaves has been called upon by bar association to lead trainings in several areas, both for other attorneys as well as the public.

Daniel D. Hargreaves is a board member of the SHAY Foundation in Beaver County, which develops programs and resources for the region’s children. An advocate for responsible firearm ownership, Attorney Hargreaves is a member of the United States Concealed Carry Association, and attends multiple trainings through the year. In his spare time, Daniel enjoys running, and has run in the Pittsburgh Half Marathon each year since 2022.

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
