Overview
Richard Manilla joined Ruppert Law Firm LLC in 2023. His practice primary consists of family latter matters that include Divorce, Custody, Child Support, Protection from Abuse ("PFA") actions, Termination of Parental Rights, Adoptions, and Dependency actions. He is licensed to practice in all of Pennsylvania's state and federal courts. Richard is dedicated to simplifying the complexities of family law matters and providing straightforward representation to his clients.
In addition to family law matters, Richard also has a background in personal injury law (including motor-vehicle accidents, medical/professional malpractice, products liability, industrial accidents, and premise liability), workers compensation, business litigation, construction litigation, appellate work, DUI law, license suspensions, and criminal defense. These practices areas have allowed Richard to litigate in several courts throughout Western Pennsylvania, including Magisterial District Courts, Courts of Common Pleas, the Pennsylvania Superior Court, the Pennsylvania WCAB, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and the US District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania.
Richard is a graduate of Claude W. Pettit College of Law at Ohio Northern University, where he was an Associate Justice of the Jessup International Law Team and competed in the Jessup International Moot Court Competition as a team member and coach. Additionally, Richard clerked for the Honorable Gregory L. Frost of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio. He also worked for the Ohio Northern Legal Clinic that represented indigent clients in domestic relations matters and interned for the Prosecutor's Office of Hardin County, Ohio prosecuting child abuse, neglect, and dependency cases.
He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, where he graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, the Pi Sigma Alpha National Honor Society and the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg Ben Franklin Society.
Richard lives in Butler County with his wife, son, their pet bulldog. He is the Armstrong County Bar Present for 2023 and the Zone 10 Governor for the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He is an active member of the Rotary Club of Porterville-Prosect, the Prosect Area Preservation Society, and the St. Christopher Catholic Church. When he is free, Rick enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife and son, reading fantasy and science fiction novels, and playing music.
