Overview
After his judicial clerkship with the Honorable William W. Vogel in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas and serving as Assistant District Attorney in Montgomery County, Mike Furey entered the private practice of law in 1985. Mike is honored to serve as the Solicitor to six Zoning Hearing Boards in Montgomery County. He currently serves as Solicitor to the West Norriton Township Zoning Hearing Board, as he has for over 35 years, the Whitemarsh Township Zoning Hearing Board for over 20 years, the Worcester Township Zoning Hearing Board for over 10 years, the West Conshohocken Borough Zoning Hearing Board since 2022, the Upper Moreland Township Zoning Hearing Board since 2023, and the Upper Frederick Township Zoning Hearing Board since 2025. He has also served as counsel to Building Code Boards of Appeal. In addition to his Zoning Hearing Board Solicitor appointments, Mike has been called upon to serve as standing conflict counsel, or as appointed counsel to various municipal boards in Montgomery County in zoning and land development matters.
A significant part of Mike's practice also involves representing developers, nonprofit organizations, and individuals in real estate transactions, and obtaining zoning and land development approvals in municipalities throughout Montgomery County and neighboring counties. He regularly represents clients in zoning litigation and appeals in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas and the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court.
Mike has received recognition in “Top Lawyers of Montgomery County” in Zoning and Land Use Law.
In addition to his real estate, land development, and zoning practice, Mike consults with clients in business, contract, and construction law, prepares Wills and Powers of Attorney, and assists clients with estate administration and probate.
