Hired Attorney 1960-2016In Loving Memory of Elliott Kenneth Braverman, Esq. Beloved Husband, Father, Brother, and Counselor September 10, 1935 – January 30, 2016 Elliott Kenneth Braverman, Esq., of Upsal Street in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2016, doing what he loved most—working tirelessly and thoughtfully on behalf of others. He was surrounded by his devoted family, whose lives were forever enriched by his wisdom, humor, and unwavering love. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Elliott was a proud graduate of Central High School, Temple University, and the Wharton School of Business, before earning his Law Degree from New York University. His intellect was matched only by his drive to use it in service of fairness and justice. A brilliant tax attorney and visionary thinker, Elliott’s work was defined by his integrity, creativity, and deep compassion for the people he represented. He believed profoundly in fairness and in standing up for individuals who simply wanted to be treated justly by the IRS and by life itself. Elliott married his childhood sweetheart, Gloria (Reichman) Braverman, whom he first met when she was just 15. Their love story was one of devotion and laughter, spanning nearly six decades. Together, they built a beautiful life and family, adopting two sons in 1965 (David) and 1967 (Ronnie) who became the joy and pride of their lives. Elliott’s family was his compass and his greatest source of joy. He is survived by his beloved wife Gloria, his cherished sons, and his loving sisters, including his twin. His family and friends will remember him for his sharp mind, generous spirit, and unmatched wit—a man who could find humor in any situation and insight in every challenge. For 35 years, Elliott served with distinction at Blank Rome LLP, where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. His ability to “think outside the box” made him a pioneer in his field and a mentor to generations of young attorneys. Even after decades of practice, Elliott remained as passionate about the law as he was on his first day—working right up until his final moments, drafting an email that would be his last. Elliott’s life was a testament to love, perseverance, and purpose. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, but his legacy endures in the countless lives he touched—with kindness, intellect, and an unshakable belief in doing what was right.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
