Susan J. Kupersmith is a seasoned attorney with over 35 years of experience in representing Owners, Management companies, and Landlords. Her longstanding clients value her dedication and commitment to zealous advocacy, and practical approach to consistently achieve successful outcomes.
Ms. Kupersmith grew up in Long Island, New York, where she graduated early from high school at the age of 17. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and she then proceeded to Law School at the Villanova University, where she received her Juris Doctor in 1988.
Ms. Kupersmith’s specializes in all aspects of landlord and tenant litigation, on behalf of owners and management companies. Ms. Kupersmith has extensive experience in handling lease drafting and negotiations, compliance with City codes, evictions, fair housing and discrimination matters, real estate disputes, debt collection matters, tort litigation, and general commercial litigation. Ms. Kupersmith has extensive trial experience in the Municipal Court of Philadelphia, the District Justice courts, and Common Pleas courts.
Ms. Kupersmith is the past Chair of the Real Property Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association and is a long-term member of the Executive Board of the Real Property Section. She also is a member of the Municipal Court committee. She is a co-author of the first approved Plain Language Lease in Pennsylvania and is the author of the Attorney-General approved Lease for the Apartment Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh.
Ms. Kupersmith also is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, the Plain Language Consumer Contract Bar Association Lease Committee of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Municipal Court Committee. She regularly presents lectures and seminars, in all aspects of Landlord and Tenant law, both the clients, graduate students, and lawyers.
