Jeffrey C. Dohrmann - Williamsport, PA

Jeff is originally from Woolrich. His father, Bernhard Dohrmann, was an attorney, public defender, and district attorney in Lock Haven, and his mother, Mary, was his assistant. Jeff was his father’s Paralegal until he passed away in November 1983. When Jeff became an attorney, he proudly hung his father’s original shingle in his own office, where it remains.

Jeff graduated from Penn State in 1982 with a BA in English/Writing, and an Area of Knowledge in Theater Performance. He has acted in and directed many productions over the years, with favorite roles being Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire, and, in 2017, Vladimir in Waiting for Godot. In fact, he met his wife, Melanie, while playing Harold Hill to her Marian the Librarian in The Music Man. Her voice definitely outshone his.

In December 1983, after his father passed away, Jeff was hired at Rieders Travis as Cliff’s Litigation Paralegal. He went to law school while working, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Widener University School of Law in 1993. After being admitted to the Pennsylvania and Middle District of Pennsylvania bars in November 1993, Jeff began representing as their attorney clients he had worked with as a Paralegal, and was trying their cases in federal court as early as 1994.

The most important advice Jeff received in law school was, “Don’t conform yourself to the practice of law, conform the practice of law to yourself.” That is why most often when you come into the office, Jeff will be wearing blue jeans and a Woolrich shirt, and his suit will be waiting on the back of his door, ready for the next trial or hearing. He only represents people. People who have been physically or emotionally injured, at work or in personal injury situations. People who have been wrongfully treated, terminated, harassed or discriminated against at work. People who have had their civil rights violated.

Jeff has two stepsons, a daughter and a son with Melanie. For years, Jeff and Melanie coached all four in soccer. During one memorable season, the four “kids” were on six different soccer teams, with Jeff coaching two of the teams, and Melanie coaching one of the teams. Melanie has the well-deserved bragging rights of going undefeated in that season.

Although now “empty-nested” as far as kids go, Jeff and Melanie are “full-housed” with two German Shepherds and four cats. And the German Shepherds are excellent soccer players.

As things go full circle, like Bernhard Dohrmann’s shingle now hanging in Jeff Dohrmann’s office, Jeff and Melanie now live in the same Woolrich home Jeff’s parents built in 1958.
