Michael, has been my wife and my attorney for more than five years, providing us with the most thoughtful and brilliant guidance in dealings with the IRS and tax issues. He has been exceptionally SUCCESSFUL on multiple levels of solving complex tax issues which have helped us well beyond our wildest dreams. He is without reservation, the most trusted professional we have ever met. Michael genuinely cares about people and is a man of great faith. For more than 30 years, he has taken the lead in managing and directing charitable programs that help feed hungry Rhode Islanders. I highly encourage you to meet with him, and I believe you will feel, as my wife and I do, that he truly is the very best.

Michael Napolitano was recommended to us and he worked above and beyond in 2021 with our tax return and corrected a previous oversight. Thank you again Michael, we are so appreciative. Susan, his secretary is wonderful too.

I contacted Michael Napolitano due to on going issues with IRS. I had received notice that the IRS was going to put levies on our Social Security. I was scared and anxious about this possibility. I called Michael's office and met with him that day. He proceeded to go to IRS in person to discuss the levies and was successful on stopping the garnishment. When he called me and told me I was amazed at his responsiveness and diligence. He continued working with us and able to negotiate a payment plan that was very affordable. He spent hours on the phone (on hold, getting disconnected) and at the IRS office. He was generous with his fee despite the amount of time he spent helping us. I feel blessed and grateful to have had Mr. Michael Napolitano as our lawyer.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
