    Hired Attorney 1961-1964
I had your first X-ray done and they found a spot on my lung. So they scheduled me a physical with doctor Schonfeld on Nov.9th at 9:05 am. I was given some documents to fill out and sign and send in which I did weeks prior to my appointment. I then drove 60 miles to the appointment which took over an hour in traffic. Once there I was told I had to wear a mask. When I arrived one nice lady and one who didn't want to be bothered with my question waited on me. Then they gave me the same papers to fill out which I had already sent in prior. I filled out all the questions I could but what operations and when I had them and the dates of employment to various companies I worked for in question. I told them I had all that information at home and couldn't provide them at that time. The nice lady was looking at the other lady for guidance of what to do. The second one told me I had to sit down and fill them in before I could continue. So I ended up leaving and wasting my time, over two hours and gas and wear and tear on my car for nothing. I pray they don't treat all Vet's like this. Richard

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
