Hired Attorney 2020“Sh*t canned by Cordell and Cordell”, quote from family law attorney peer. Arguably the most pompous, ineffectual and cringeworthy attorney I’ve ever encountered. In my opinion, she’s morally bankrupt and unskilled.

Hired Attorney 2020I've had the displeasure of hiring this firm to assist in the simple task of modifying child support. In the brief time that I've been their client, I have been, without warning, transferred to a new attorney 3 times for a total of 4 attorneys representing me. It's unclear why the attorneys have left Robinson and Henry, but I did receive an automated email response from one saying they "are no longer associated with the firm". When I inquired about his prompt dismissal (he was removed on a Friday afternoon), I was told it was "COVID 19" related. In an attempt to discuss a fair billing and invoicing moving forward without having an attorney representing me, Marlana Caruso filed a motion to withdraw without consulting with me and less than a month from my mediation.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
