Hired Attorney 2020-2021Paid $6,000 for an "attorney " only for her to show her face in court and file paperwork, that's it! She never spoke up for me or my daughter in court. When the other party's attorney told lies and made accusations towards me she let it happen and didn't do/say anything as a rebuttal. I dug up more evidence to show that my abusive ex couldn't care less about our daughter and was an unfit parent than she did and when I presented the evidence to her to present in open court she never brought it up. My ex should have been found in contempt multiple times but she never filed any motions for it to be done. Save Your Money And The Stress Of Hiring This Awful "Attonery"! She Has No Interest In You, Your Child or Your Case, Just Your Bank Account! The cooperation was lacking on YOUR part as you were called and emailed multiple times what my concerns and what my goals were for my case. Additionally I called and emailed and left voicemails multiple times and often you didn't respond but I bet you charged me for it though!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
