He was attentive and made sure we got the results we wanted. He made sure I was up to date with everything happening and he definitely helped in not making the court process feel so overwhelming for me and my family giving us a sense of security which is really important. Before him, I went through a couple of appointments with a few attorneys somewhat recommended but non of them really new how to go about my case and Brock really figured it out. If you really want someone who cares about your case as much as you do and is smart and really knows the law and right people, I really recommend Brock Benjamin as he will definitely be there for you and help you obtain the best possible result."

Verified ClientHired Law firm 2019Mr. Benjamin took my case, a felony posession (Cannabis) charge incurred at the Sierra Blanca Border Patrol Checkpoint on Interstate 10 when a drug dog alerted as we passed through. I am a Military veteran who suffers chronic pain from arthritis and PTSD from combat in Viet Nam. Being from California, I had legally purchased cannabis flowers in my suitcase which was the reason the dog alerted. At over five ounces, it was enough for a felony charge. I had that amount because my wife and I were on an six week vacation and I did not want to risk running out and then suffering the pain and anxiety that would cause. I contacted Mr. Benjamin's law office and he agreed to accept my case.Through his efforts and negotiations with the county prosecutor, he was able to have my case dismissed. Aside from the inconvenience in having to return to Texas for a court appearance, my record remains clear of any felony charges or convictions thanks to his efforts. I would recommend Mr. Benjamin to anyone arrested at the Sierra Blanca checkpoint on I-10. He took my case and had me provide documentation and other mitigating material to him as he worked towards my dismissal. During my court appearance, he was able to strike a deal dismissing my case. He knows the system, the local courts and the law and he was able to obtain justice for me.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
