Hired Attorney 2023-2025Alex navigated me through a difficult and complex two-year divorce. She was always honest with me about the risks of each decision in each step of the process. She knew the law well and was able to handle the intricacies of my case. She negotiated a temporary agreement that gave me enough financial support to continue to advocate for settling the case in my favor and asked precise questions that got to the heart of the case when debriefing my spouse. While client correspondence is not her strongest asset, I am happy with the outcome of my case. I believe Alex advised me well and would recommend her services to others.

Hired Attorney 2019Just awful. I 100% agree with everyone else who spoke of her interest in taking as much of your money as possible and doing as little work as possible. Unfortunately I’ve had to work with several divorce attorneys in my life and genuinely felt like she was the most uneducated by far. She is very capable of screwing up the most simple case while making sure she blows through your retainer at least 3 times. She will blow through your first retainer and accomplish almost NOTHING!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
