Hired Law firm 2021-2023Well the attorney I used who was a partner is no longer there. I don't know what they actually did right for me other then while suffering a mental crisis thought it was in my best interest to sign legal documents and allowing my former business partner and his attorney to bully me. I wouldn't doubt my former business partner knew someone in the firm because It felt like they were fighting for him instead of me. He wouldn't allow me to be there for a mediation which I requested to be there for. Half the time never answered my emails or phone calls after any court hearing instead of calling me to go over the horrible job he did he would call the other attorney. I don't believe they had my best interest and believe they didn't provide me with the fiduciary duty, a duty of loyalty and fidelity that a lawyer is suppose to provide there client.

Hired Attorney Liberty J. Weyandt 2021-2023She needs to educate herself on domestic mental abuse and act accordingly bc she treated me horribly. After speaking to other law involved employees I have come to learn that she did none of the things that she should have done to protect her client. She belittled me and attempted to control a situation when in actuality she didn’t even review the case or take the time to know me as her client. I would look elsewhere if you are a victim of DV and parental alienation bc I miss my son and have for over 3 years and my attorney did nothing but take tens of thousands of dollars away from a woman who was a stay at home mom and had a spouse who took everything away from her w a lie.

Hired Law firm 2021-2023I hired this female lawyer bc I thought she would actually do her job. She did not and after discussing my case w other lawyers, she should have done so much more. I am a survivor of domestic mental abuse and have been alienated from my son for over 3 years and she didn’t fight for her client at all. She was horribly rude and controlling and she never stood up for me once. But they did take 25k from a woman who had her entire life and all finances taken away in the blink of an eye. I hired a lawyer who was already in the other parties side.

Hired Attorney Alexander J. Tulaney 2021-2023This man was awful. He did not care about my best interests. He, in fact, didn’t even remember me after working on a court order together for months. I am a mother alienated from her son and after speaking to others, he did absolutely none of the things that he should have done for his client.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
