Verified ClientHired Law firm 2021-2022I highly recommend Kevin McConnell if you are in need of a personal i jury attorney. When I decided to hire an attorney after being injured in an auto accident, I thought it would be a good idea to use a large, well known personal injury law firm (you know: the ones with the ads who promise the world!). I called one such firm and received a call back. I felt so much pressure from the lawyer I spoke with. I received repeated calls urging me to sign with them. I didn't like feeling bullied by them and decided to look for a smaller law firm that hopefully would be less pushy and more pleasant to deal with. From the first conversation with Mr. McConnell I was treated with kindness and respect and had a nice connection with Mr. McConnell and his excellent staff. He always took the time to explain where we were were in the process and I trusted that I was getting good advice on how to move forward. In the end I received a fair settlement for my injuries.

Verified ClientHired Law firm 2020-2023Kevin and Shannon, his fantastic assistant, tirelessly worked on my car accident case. I was not at fault but had serious injuries. The insurance company was not making a reasonable offer and dragged things out as long as possible. Kevin and Shannon hung in there and finally were able to settle the case with a good settlement. Their knowledge of Medicare, medical billing, and how insurance companies operate is impressive. I would go to them again if the need arose.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
