Hired Law firm 2026I retained this attorney on 1/16/2026, for a limited-scope probate matter with the understanding that the engagement would involve approximately five hours of legal services. This review reflects my personal experience and opinions based on that representation. In my experience, there were serious issues with both the quality and timing of the work performed. I specifically requested documentation to support estate expenses so I could evaluate financial claims and prepare for a scheduled hearing. The materials that were provided appeared incomplete and lacked basic supporting documentation such as receipts or sufficient verification. More concerning, nearly all of the information was delivered at the last possible moment—on the afternoon before the hearing and again on the morning of the hearing—which, in my view, made meaningful review and preparation unrealistic. Communication was also a significant concern. Multiple requests for clarification and updates went unanswered, and there appeared to be a pattern of delayed responses and last-minute action on time-sensitive matters. From my perspective, this created unnecessary stress and uncertainty in an already serious legal proceeding. Following the engagement, I received a billing statement that, in my opinion, did not reasonably reflect the limited scope of the work performed. Based on my understanding, the billing included what appeared to be duplicative entries and charges for matters I believed were already covered by the initial fee based consultation. In my view, the overall billing did not align with the amount or substance of work I observed. As a result of these issues, I lost confidence in the representation and terminated the attorney-client relationship. This review is based solely on my personal experience and perspective. Others may have different experiences. That said, I would strongly caution prospective clients to clearly define expectations regarding documentation, responsiveness, and billing practices before entering into an agreement.

She took the time to explain everything and did not rush through. The staff is great too especially April who had the patience of a Saint with all my email. I highly recommend them!!!!!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
