Like so many others, my divorce was stressful and complicated. One month into the process, I was introduced to Jackie Conlon, as I was unhappy with my original firm. I met with Jackie and Lauren McCann for several hours and made the decision to switch. I have never regretted the decision, as Conlon & McGlynn was responsive, professional, ethical, and most of all, cared about a positive outcome for my children. When there were difficult decisions to be made, and there were many, Lauren and I reviewed the options carefully to discuss the pros and cons of the available courses of action. Since the completion of my case, I have recommended their services to friends going through the process.

If you are looking for a legal team who actually cares about you and your family's well-being, look no further. My divorce was quite difficult and tumultuous, but I always knew Lauren and the entire team had my and my children's best interest in mind at all times. Their service levels are extraordinary, and they were there for me from beginning to end, always transparent, always available, and always human.

As anyone would probably imagine , divorcing is, or can be one of the most stressful experience. I was lucky to have been referred to Conlon & McGlynn, LLC, Westport, by a Lawyer friend. It was the best advice ever. The Firm and all employees, from the receptionist to paralegal to the partners were always very welcoming and understanding. I felt comfortable the moment I first entered the door of their lovely office. Everything was always well explained and easy to understand, even for someone with no special legal training. High efficiency and precise execution resulted in a well prepared case which was presented to a court successfully and in the expected time frame.

I worked closely with Louise and Krista throughout my divorce and after. They were knowledgeable, attentive, and patient. I always felt heard and supported. Even after the divorce was final, they continued to counsel me as needed and never made me feel like a burden. We got a fair settlement and they worked quickly to get it done in a very short time frame. I highly recommend them.

My divorce was difficult and I was pretty sure we were heading toward litigation when I first met Louise McGlynn at her office. Louise understood the nuances of my case immediately and guided me toward a final resolution that would allow us all to have a fresh start and eventually, to thrive. My life and my children's lives would not be as good as they are today if it weren't for Louise's commitment to seeing our case through to the best possible resolution. The best part of working with Louise was toward the end when we were close to a final settlement agreement and things took a turn for the worse. She was right there with me and did not drop the ball like I know other divorce lawyers are prone to do. She came through for me when it really mattered and that made all the difference. I can't recommend Louise McGlynn and the team I interacted with at Colon & McGlynn highly enough.

My relationship first started with Attorney Louise McGlynn when I hired her for purchasing my house. I found her to be wonderfully pleasant and always able to explain complicated matters in a way I could understand. Sadly a few years later my wife and I separated, when it became clear that this would be an extremely daunting process I consulted with Louise again. She was instrumental in helping us to settle what oftentimes felt like an impossible situation. With the courts not doing trials during the Covid-19 pandemic, I truly couldn't have gotten divorced without her and her firms expertise and guidance. They have a lovely office and Jen and Jackie were very helpful and responsive as well. I would gladly hire Louise for any and all future legal matters and rate her 6 stars if I could!

Nice enough firm but not worth the money they charge. Their focus is on settling cases and avoiding the court room. This priority is above any client preference. Poor communication and not listening regarding what the client would like. Absolutely, no strategy or creative thinking for a favorable outcome for their client. They function as inactive participants allowing the opposing counsel to drive the flow of the case. If you have a difficult or high conflict case, this is not the group for you.

The person who wrote this review has never been a client of our firm. It is unfortunate she had an unsatisfactory experience with her legal counsel. Our attorneys have many years of experience of both litigating cases and in all forms of alternative dispute resolution. This broad skillset allows us to zealously represent our clients in whichever direction they ultimately choose to take their case to reach a successful outcome.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
