I would like to publicly express my sincere appreciation to the EKJ law firm at this time for the care, concern and superior expertise they provided to me while handling my serious accident case. It is a different world we live in now. Pressures beyond our control seem to permeate the souls of people. We don't know who to trust. EKJ remains steadfast due to their morale compass and remains true to their purpose which is to assist people with resolving legal issues during a time of dire need. They have resolved my case, beyond my expectations. They continued to work on my case during the Covid19 Pandemic when many firms were closed. EKJ will always remain my law firm. They take the time to listen to your concerns and are in constant communication with you, so you are never left in the dark. When you have serious injuries, your only goal is to recover. EKJ will handle the legalities for you. I never had to second guess their guidance, because I knew they truly cared about me and fought for best results. I am grateful to all of the staff who resolved my case. Every one of them was courteous and compassionate when I called. I recommend EKJ to my friends and family members because I know they will resolve their case with their 30 years of expertise, positive attitude, excellent communications and compassionate care. They are a very trustworthy law firm. I highly recommend them without hesitation.

To say that Edelman, Krasin, & Jaye are a fantastic firm would be an understatement! They secured a substantial settlement for my car accident and worked very hard to assure that my medical needs were met. I would use them again and I encourage anyone to consider them for their legal needs.

I am an attorney in California but I know very little about personal injury law and nothing at all about New York law. I am very lucky that a colleague recommended I contact Edelman, Krasin & Jaye to represent me after I suffered a significant injury while on vacation in New York. Paul Edelman (and his wonderful assistant, Rosemarie) did an amazing job on my case, resulting in a much better settlement than I had expected. And EKJ kept its litigation costs low and even negotiated my insurance carrier's lien down, which maximized the amount I received. I could not be happier with the representation I received from EKJ!

I hired this firm for an automobile accident I had. I was struck my a hit and run driver. I didn't think there was anyone I could sue for the injuries I had from the accident. After speaking with one of the attorneys, Mr. Spano, I was informed of my rights involving coverage under my own insurance policy. I was completely satisfied with the professionalism of Mr. Spano and his associates at the firm. I was kept advised when anything was happening affecting my case. Their paperwork was accurate and well prepared. I was happy with the settlement that they reached right before my hearing. I strongly recommend this firm.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
