I was the victim of a nasty divorce. 12 years post divorce and 4 attorneys later I was still fighting court motion battles in Cook County Illinois. Finding Tracey Hower and her law firm was truly a god send. I now reside in Arizona and travel to Illinois was out of the question. Additionally amidst the COVID pandemic; a court room appearance was not an option. I sent Tracey a synopsis of the previous 12 years of court hearings; rulings and motions and pleadings. Tracey gleaned all the documents I provided and rapidly absorbed the relevant facts. Tracey Hower represented me virtually throughout the hearings and I never had to attend a single court hearing. The Hower law firm accomplished in three court hearings what I attempted to accomplish with my previous 4 attorneys and 12 years of agony. Tracey briefed me on her strategy; gave me terrific advice on what to expect and what not to expect. She truly is the quintessential embodiment of the ideal attorney that I could have asked to represent me. Her court room etiquette and trial acumen is exceptional and she absolutely far exceeded my expectations. The outcome of my case was more than equitable and my case is finally closed permanently and I can now sleep better at night. I wish I had found the Hower law firm at the start of my divorce. I am extremely confident that my original divorce decree would have been settled 12 years ago. I honestly cannot pontificate enough nor shout out enough kudus for the thorough and exemplary representation I received. Also the paralegals and principal attorneys at the Hower law firm are worthy of recognition. They all treated me with respect and dignity that you should expect. So many other firms that I dealt with lacked the fundamental customer service skills that a client deserves. The customer centric and compassionate care I received from the Hower law firm truly sets them apart from the rest of the firms that I dealt with in the past. The hourly rate was more than reasonable; given the positive results I’d suggest that the rates were a bargain. Looking for a law firm then look no further. I honestly don’t think that you’ll find a more competent firm to represent your legal needs

If I could give her a negative review I would. The absolute worst attorney I have ever seen in my life. Negligent. Failed to do basic due diligence. The absolute worst strategic thinker on the planet. Did nothing but try to bilk me out of every dollar I had. Now post decree everything I was worried about from the start has come to fruition and nothing Miss Hower did Was even remotely beneficial. An attorney should be an advocate she was not only disappointing but actively abusive. I was seen is nothing more than a paycheck. When the money ran out so did she.

David, Thank you for the recent feedback regarding your lengthy legal representation from two years ago. When we successfully negotiated a favorable settlement at the trial, despite the challenging circumstances, I understood from the hug you gave me that you were satisfied with the outcome of your matter. From your review, it sounds like since the divorce settlement, there have been some very frustrating issues that have come up. Our goal is client satisfaction! Please, call the office as soon as possible so that we can discuss how we can resolve these issues. I will do everything I can to make this right. - Attorney Tracey A. Hower

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
