At the Law Office of John M. Schaffranek in Wexford, Pennsylvania, I provide dedicated family law and estate planning services. Client-focused and results-driven, I founded my law office with the goal of helping my clients safeguard their families and futures. I offer virtual appointment options, and my office accepts credit cards.

Advocating on behalf of clients living in Allegheny and Butler counties, as well as throughout the surrounding areas, I work to help them resolve the legal challenges that life may place before them. My office handles cases involving matters such as the following:

• Divorce
• Child custody, visitation and child support
• Fathers' rights
• Adoption
• Wills and trusts
• Probate and estate administration

In addition to family law and estate law services, my office also provides criminal defense representation. I assist people with cases involving traffic tickets, DUI and DWI, drug violations, and other misdemeanor and felony offenses.

Whether going through a divorce, preparing their estates or facing criminal charges, I know that my clients may be experiencing a range of emotions. Empathizing with what they are going through, I offer compassionate, yet straightforward guidance. Responsive to the needs of my clients, I make every effort to promptly return phone and email messages.

John Schaffranek was highly recommended to me and I was not disappointed with my choice. He is a top notch family law attorney! John took the time to get to know me and my complicated child custody circumstances. John is very knowledgeable with all aspects of the court process, he continually updated me throughout the entire process evenings and weekends. Don?t second guess retaining him as your attorney he is very intelligent, dedicated, and a straightforward attorney!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
