I hired Thomas Landwerlen and Marc Matheny to represent me in a tort case involving allegations concerning my late father's finances. The case ultimately resulted in a judgment exceeding $300,000 against me, and I was extremely disappointed with the representation I received. One of my biggest concerns was that important evidence was never fully presented to the court. My father's legal documents, including records relating to his care, finances, and VA Aid and Attendance benefits, were not presented in the manner I expected. I believed these documents were highly relevant to understanding his finances and the decisions that were being challenged. I was also frustrated by what I believed was a mistaken-identity issue contained in the verified complaint. From my perspective, information was being associated with another individual who shared my name and lived in the same county. I expected this issue to be aggressively investigated and presented to the court, but I do not believe it received the attention it deserved. There were also credibility and witness issues that I felt were never fully explored. I questioned why certain testimony and contradictions were not challenged more aggressively and why evidence that I believed supported my defense was not fully developed before the court. What disappointed me most was what happened after judgment. Throughout the litigation, I understood that an appeal would be pursued if the outcome was unfavorable. After judgment was entered, I was informed that trial counsel would not be handling the appeal. While facing a judgment of more than $300,000 and trying to protect my home and assets, I felt abandoned during the most critical stage of the case. This case had life-changing consequences for me and my family. I paid substantial legal fees and expected preparation, communication, and aggressive advocacy. Instead, I was left with serious unanswered questions about the strategy that was pursued, the evidence that was presented, and the support I received after judgment. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Thomas Landwerlen or Marc Matheny.
