Let me recommend Bruce McIlnay and Jim Button Business and Estate Attorneys. When people write reviews about attorneys, they tend to judge the firm or individual lawyer based on their results of a case. If you are one of these type clients, know this, McIlnay Button Law gets results! Nonetheless, here is some advice to new clients. The journey is equally important. Court proceedings can take months or even years, causing mental anguish the entire time. Ever work with an attorney that was difficult to reach or didn?t explain the legal procedures very well? Bruce and Jim care. You are a priority at their firm. They make sure you understand your rights and the options the law provides and especially the timelines for each step along the way. Attorneys dedicate hours, days, weeks, even years of their lives to cases. In the end, their work goes unappreciated and taken for granted by clients believing the countless hours of work pales in significance to the final court ruling. Court proceedings can be long, arduous, stressful, and frightening. Attorneys Button and McIlnay breadth of knowledge and skill in their field, combined with their endearing charm and deep care for their clients, making the process much more manageable for you. Having known and worked with Attorney McIlnay and Attorney Button as a client for over a decade, I have a firsthand privilege of witnessing their tireless efforts toward thorough research and preparations, well-crafted motions and filings, mediation skills, courtroom prowess, and so much more. Their humble demeanor masks the legal giant within them each. Recall the first time you approached a tall building and did not fully appreciate its size until you were up close and personal. That is the sensation I repeatedly received with these attorneys. Their towering knowledge, and their skill to use it, feels like I have my very own army of attorneys all wrapped into one legal team. Thank you, McIlnay Button Law| Estate and Business Attorneys.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
