Verified ClientHired Law firm 2016-2021I would and have many times recommended the Monast Law Firm for any Workers Comp issues. I tried at first to go it alone but found that my employer had an advantage over me with high priced lawyers so I was given a recommendation by a friend to go talk to James Monast. From that initial meeting many years ago I have been treated like family. Your fight is their fight. ALL of the staff are very helpful and courteous whenever you call or meet with them. Todd and Wilma are top notch assistants and if they don’t have an answer for you, they will find out and respond quickly.

Verified ClientHired Law firm 2017-2020He has worked for us for many years, keeping us up-to-date on what is going on regarding our cases. We have recommended him to others. He does what he has to do that is legal to get the job completed. His office is friendly and competent. Love them.

Consulted Law firm 2024Todd Oates , an assistant at the firm, was a huge help. I was getting Job & Family Services mixed up with BWC. Even though I was mixed up - he patiently listened to my story and got me going in the right direction. These people will treat you right!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
