Simply stated, we are in the business of helping people going through real-life problems. The end of a marriage is a milestone in your life where legal complexities combine with emotionally charged issues.

Your focus should be on your family while we attend to all the legal aspects of a life-changing, sometimes traumatic event. Attorney Eric Morrison is an experienced attorney licensed in Kansas and Missouri. The founder of our firm is also a skilled trial lawyer who places his focus on your rights while fighting for your best interests.

Specific areas of our family law practice include:

  • Divorce
  • Property division
  • Child custody/parenting time
  • Child support
  • Spousal support/maintenance/alimony
  • Post-divorce modifications and relocations

This may be your first time needing an attorney. In addition to the personal stress you are dealing with, you also fear the costs of retaining experienced counsel. Morrison Law, LLC, is a legal practice managed with low overhead costs, even if your case goes to trial.

We will pass that benefit onto you with affordable fees for personalized representation and timely and responsive communication.

My divorce was lasted over a year and a half, was very contentious and Eric stuck with me every step of the way. My ex had two attorneys during the process and we also had a guardian ad litem involved and Eric?s communication between all of the other parties and myself was very professional. Eric really took the time to listen to my story from the initial consultation onward. He is very compassionate, kind, and honest. He told me what the most likely outcomes would be all along the way in my custody case. My case ended up going to trial over property division and Eric was very prepared and prepared me very well for the questioning in court. We essentially won every argument made at trial. I could not have asked for a better outcome. I highly recommend Eric Morrison as an attorney to anyone going through such a difficult life transition as divorce.

I felt Mr Morrison was genuinely concerned about my welfare. He was always available and provided reasonable advise. He was also tried to keep costs and expenses to a minimum.

Eric was a beacon of hope to my family at a time when our options appeared limited and the likelihood of a satisfactory resolution seemed nigh on impossible. Not only was he able to defend us from an unjust accusation, his calm and empathetic demeanor offered emotional succor to myself and those I care about most. My children and I are eternally grateful for his service and I highly recommend him!

We were recommended to Mr. Morrison during a very stressful and critical time in our civil court case. From the very first consultation and every interaction following, Eric has been quick to help us navigate the situation at hand. He goes above and beyond to handle hard situations with a great deal of care and sensitivity. He took time to meet with us in person and catch up on the ongoing situation. He brings a sense of peace during court hearings and is quick to call and further explain things if they are not clear during trial. He presents the truth with clarity, thoughtfulness, and sincerity. We were continually impressed with his motions and grateful that he was so on top of our case. Eric intentionally invested in our case and it has been life changing for our family! We are so incredibly grateful for his work and time! He has been a huge blessing for our family!!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
