Attorney Nemat is a highly experienced, very knowledgeable, and skilled landlord-tenant attorney. From my first conversation with him I felt at ease and knew I was in good hands. Attorney Nemat expertly negotiated an eviction proceeding for me with tenants who refused to vacate at the end of their lease. I am very appreciative of the way he efficiently resolved this case and highly recommend him and his team.

I had a 15 minute consultation with Mr. Nemat regarding my case. He said due to my landlord not following proper procedure, I would likely win my case and also be able to recoup any legal fees. He said it was also a relatively simple case and I could represent myself if I chose. Being that I have a lot on my plate currently and time is at a premium for me, it made sense to hire Mr. Nemat for my case. The communication skills of his staff are absolutely atrocious, literally bottom of the barrel - I've never dealt with a legal office that has poor communication skills comparable to Nemat's; in fact I can't think of ANY office that has had communication this poor, with the exception of Comcast customer service. Their staff told me on 3 separate occasions they would be sending a client and retainer agreement, and it never materialized. Ian at his office lied to me, and told me on 3 separate occasions it was forthcoming. I have been represented by about half a dozen different lawyers in my life, and NONE are as incompetent as Sasan Nemat's staff. What lawfirm promises a new client they will be emailing documentation, and then never does? The answer is, NO lawfirm does that, except one with an INCOMPETENT staff. It?s a very poor business model to promise your clients / potential clients something multiple times and then not deliver. They've wasted 3 weeks that I could?ve gotten a response to my landlord, and multiple hours of time that I could've been doing better things than following up on a client agreement and retainer that was never forthcoming, even though Ian told on 3 discrete occasions that it was. You need to have a talk with your staff about best practice for what they promise clients and what they can deliver on, and how to effectively communicate with clients or potential clients. Ian may not be up to the task for representing your firm. And your staff is definitely a reflection of your aptitude as a lawyer. Please review your practices, they leave a lot to be desired.

Attorney Nemat mediated my case and was able to resolve it at the first hearing. He's very knowledgeable and competent with the litigation process, and a true professional. I will highly recommend him and his law firm. "May I add, he looks very dapper in his suit."

Mr. Nemat and I had some bumps in road while working together, but ultimately he got me my desired result. He delivered good service and got me what I needed! I wish it would have been a smoother route to get to that point but overall, I am very satisfied with his services!

Very professional, not really up to date on Tenant and Landlord laws. Focuses a ton of the downside, and does not have the attitude to win your case. Be careful because this guys says one thing and doesn't take action on it. He was late to our first meeting as well as didn't read any information given to him about our case. Needs to care about tenants as much as he cares about taking landlord cases.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
