It was 2008 and I had just been arrested for DUI. I was in a tough situation and didn't know what to do. I decided to fight the charges and at first went with a public defender. There is nothing wrong with public defenders but the reality is they are overworked and are probably not going to fight as hard as a paid lawyer.
