I imagine virtually anyone reading this recalls the famous Jurassic Park line of John Hammond that ends with ?the bloodsucking lawyer.? As a child, I giggled. In adulthood, I laugh hysterically. It?s sad, but lawyers -much like those in law enforcement- are not always held in high regard (often for good reason). By the time you finished reading about my incredibly long journey that finally ended in the competent and compassionate hands of Jason Oxner and his staff, you?ll have moved on. So, I?ll say it now and hope you keep reading: you found your champion. He is the ?hero lawyer? you see in movies -one of the rare few that seems to embody the heartfelt words engraved at the base of the Statue of Liberty. I quite literally had another lawyer tell me ?I think I can help you [for $250] -bring me what you?ve got and we?ll go over it.? He was a total charlatan. Jason never asked for a single penny from me, and was LITERALLY the reason I pocketed nearly $20,000 -simply by invoking a clause in my insurance policy I didn?t know existed. I plan to send him a thank you with a check ?... but it?s important to know. That is who you are doing business with, when you contact Oxner Law. You are working with a firm that puts more thought and energy into integrity and customer satisfaction than STAYING IN BUSINESS. It?s mind-blowing, but it?s true.

Jason Oxner is a very competent and caring attorney. He always answered my emails and took the time to return my calls and that alone meant a lot to me when I would voice my concerns or had questions. In the end, Jason was successful at negotiating a settlement for me in my favor in which I was very happy. I took a chance when finding him online, as he was in my area, but couldn?t have been happier with the representation he provided me. Linda J

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
