5.0 out of 5 stars

Petersen Law Firm helped me with my divorce. They stepped in when my former spouse tried to back out on the agreement we had already filed. They listened. They handled the issues quickly and professionally. This is the first time I have worked with an attorney who was careful with my money. I wasn't overcharged and I wasn't charged for every little thing. I honestly felt like Riisa was really concerned with my situation.

I hired Riisa for a really scary issue involving my kids. I was losing sleep over it. I called Riisa and the first day I felt better. It was a long case. I called in tears a lot. Riisa always talked to me when I needed it. She let me know what was going to happen and what to expect. And guess what. Everything she told me was right. She won my case for me and the court found out that the other side was lying. I got everything I wanted. But also I gained a friend too. Riisa and her office were really amazing. I can't thank them enough.

Riisa and her team are absolutely fantastic. Riisa helped me out with an incredibly high conflict case, and was not afraid to keep things real with me when I started to be unreasonable and have unrealistic expectations - she helped ground me when I needed it the most. Riisa and her entire staff were committed to doing everything they could for me, were unwavering in their hard work, consistently made me feel at ease during moments of despair, and were always attentive and there for me at the drop of a hat. To anyone looking for help with a Family Law or criminal case, Riisa and her staff are top of the line, and you'd be hard pressed to find a better attorney in the greater Tucson area.

Riisa and her team handled my high conflict custody matter extremely well and got me the result I desired. Riisa was honest and up front with me about the process and what to expect. I felt informed and protected at all times. If you want an ethical, aggressive attorney with integrity, Petersen Law Firm is your choice.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
