Mr. Rawdon represents Southern Oaks Apartments which not only fraudulently represents that it is a smoke-free facility, but has done a poor job in determining who it leases to. I am extremely allergic to cigarette smoke, and that is why I leased here, only to find that out of 4 apartments in my building, I am the only one who does not smoke. For a year I have brought this to the attention of management who has done nothing and at one time, I was told if I could provide photos, then something could be done; however, after so doing, Southern Oaks did nothing. On June 23, 2020, I received from Mr. Rawdon, a Notice to Vacate within 30 days which was taped to my door without any effort to deliver it to me where I was for the entire day. Within this Notice, Mr. Rawdon deliberately made fraudulent and untrue statements so that it would appear that the Notice to Vacate was based upon my failure to act, for example, he falsely represented that I did not submit my recertification documents though I had and then purposefully excluded that the reason I did not move out at the end of the lease was because Southern Oaks had failed to do what they need to do to terminate their contract with the Georgetown Housing Authority. It is a shame that a man of Mr. Rawdon's age with his years of experience, will slump to the level of fraud and misrepresentation.

I reached out to Mr. Rawdon with a traffic question. Mr. Rawdon provided me a clear and concise answer and did not expect anything in return. I would wholeheartedly recommend this diligent attorney without reservation. Mr. Rawdon answered my questions and then some. Thank you for you sage advice Mr. Rawdon!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
