I have been helping people with problems since 1983. Beginning in 1990 my practice began emphasizing helping people with family related problems or who were facing criminal charges. I provide dependable service with dedicated representation.
People that seek my counsel are usually very stressed and emotional. I try to assist my clients with managing their stress and emotions by providing personalized service and effective communication. I treat my clients the way that I would like to be treated if I was in their position. I provide honest, informed advice so that my clients can make educated decisions.
Not every client can meet during traditional business hours. I am available to meet with my clients as their schedules permit. While most client matters can be addressed during business hours, some matters require an immediate response regardless of the day or time. I provide my clients with my personal email address and cell phone number. When my clients have a problem, they speak directly to me, not a legal assistant or a paralegal.
Family Lawyer for Jefferson and Shelby Counties
I have twenty-three years of experience representing women and men in family law cases in Jefferson County, Shelby County and the surrounding areas. Divorce terminates the marriage, but in a majority of the divorce cases, the parties have continuing obligations to each other long after the divorce is final. Those continuing obligations include child custody, child visitation, child support and alimony. I am well-qualified to assist you with any aspect of a family law problem whether it is obtaining a divorce, modifying an existing divorce decree or enforcing a divorce decree through a contempt proceeding.
Divorce is a difficult experience for all of the parties and especially the children. With so much at stake, you need sound legal advice and excellent representation from an attorney you can trust to safeguard your best interests. For many years there was a "one size fits all" approach to divorce and family law issues. I am pleased to say that the "cookie cutter" approach is almost a thing of the past. I am a skilled negotiator who will diligently work to provide customized solutions that will meet your needs and objectives. However, if a trial before a judge is necessary to protect your interests, I am well-qualified to take your case to court.
My clients will attest that I live up to my motto: "helping people with problems." When it comes to family law, I have the knowledge and experience to help you with all matters related to divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, alimony, high-asset divorces, and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. If you need a divorce lawyer in Jefferson County, Shelby County or the surrounding areas, call Clyde Riley at (205) 208-1535.
Criminal Defense Attorney
Criminal charges in Alabama occur generally in three venues: city or municipal courts, state court or federal court. I represent people in each of these courts throughout Northern Alabama. Representative criminal defense cases include youthful offenses such as a minor in possession (MIP) of alcohol or drugs; driving under the influence (DUI); drug offenses; theft and related charges; and federal "white collar" crimes such as bank fraud, mail and wire fraud, bribery and official misconduct and money laundering.
Just as in a divorce case, persons facing a criminal prosecution are emotional and under great stress; only more so as the potential loss of your freedom and livelihood is truly a frightening experience. I have a sincere interest in helping my clients manage their stress and emotions by providing compassionate and informed analysis and advice from the beginning. My goal is to provide you with practical and helpful information and to assist you in getting your case successfully resolved.
My criminal defense clients range in age from teenagers to senior citizens. When high school or college students are charged with a crime, special rules may apply to their cases. It is important for the parents of high school and college aged children to be actively involved in the defense of their minor children. In our ever changing economy, a poor decision early in life can have serious unintended consequences for many years to come.
