Kiperman was the fourth elder law attorney I reached out to. She and her staff have been clear, competent, patient and caring. The help my disabled husband has received, as the result of her help, has been life-changing for both of us. She's a rare pearl in a sea of empty oysters. Will use her services indefinitely

Excellent law firm. Regina helped me obtain guardianship over my mother and administer my mother's estate after she passed away. She helped me with the accountings, the estate proceedings, and all the paperwork. My brother contested the guardianship and the estate and Regina helped me get awarded guardianship and administration in both instances. Thank you for your hard work!

I hired RK Law to help me become administrator of my uncle's estate. My uncle died without a will and with a lot of family issues. He had a number of siblings. Some of siblings had died before him. and had children. Some of the children also wanted to be the administrator. Regina was able to have me appointed. She worked things out with the children and the Court. She was practical, efficient, and explained the pros and cons of everything. Very happy to have hired her.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
