Bruce L. Atkins, Esq. has been practicing law since 1977. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut and has a law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law.
He has been admitted to practice in the State Court of New Jersey, the Federal Court of New Jersey, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, as well as the State of New York, the State of Florida and the U.S. Supreme Court.
He is the senior litigation partner at the law firm of Deutsch Atkins, and his major responsibility is civil litigation with emphasis on employment law. He is highly regarded by his clients for his skills as a NJ employment attorney.
He has had articles published, including Oral employment contracts under New Jersey Law; Are Employees Still Second Class Citizens? Published in the Labor and Employment Law Quarterly in 1994, and Complete Anti-Discrimination Policies the Key, published in Business Insurance, a Crains Publication in October of 1997.
He has also had several major reported cases in the Supreme Court of the State of New Jersey and in the Appellate Division. In addition, he has tried numerous cases in the State and Federal Courts of New Jersey as well as in Federal Court in New York. He obtained a verdict in a sex discrimination case in November of 1996 in the amount of $6.5 Million, $1.5 Million in Compensatory Damages and $5 Million in Punitive Damages. The Court also awarded $638,000 in counsel fees and costs. That verdict was upheld on appeal.
He has been engaged in the practice of law since 1977. In 2006, he merged his practice with the practice of Neil H. Deutsch to form the present firm. In recognition of Mr. Atkins' skill as an employment law attorney in NJ, he is selected for inclusion in the New Jersey Super Lawyers list in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 in Employment Litigation. A topnotch NJ employment law attorney, he is also AV rated with Martindale-Hubbell since 1997. In 2007, he was selected as a fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America. He has a well-deserved reputation among his peers as a talented New Jersey employment attorney.
He is a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), the NJ American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association, the Florida Bar, and the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) and NELA NJ. In addition, he has been a guest lecturer at NELA's national convention on trial techniques, at Lorman Seminars and appears regularly as a commentator on Court TV.
