A graduate of Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and second-generation family law attorney, Megan knew she wanted to help her neighbors in the DFW community navigate some of the most confusing and difficult times in their lives.
Megan takes pride in taking the time to understand each client's unique situation. More importantly, she takes to time to ensure the client understands the situation every step of the way so that she can combine her legal experience with the client's personal experiences to produce a clear plan of action in their case.
Megan understands that taking your case to court can be a gamble. She seeks to avoid that instability early on by avoiding unprofessional "mud-slinging" with other attorneys and by seeking alternative means to resolve your dispute. She has experience with informal and formal settlement processes and will ably negotiate for a client's interests and rights.
In law school, Megan dedicated herself to family law. She interned for the Texas Attorney General's office, a District Court Judge in Collin County, Court Appointed Special Advocates of Dallas County, and the Collin County District Attorney's Office Family Justice Division. She also served as chief counsel at SMU's Child Advocacy Clinic advocating for children in CPS cases. She served in the SMU Family Law Association first as vice president, then as president, while taking every family law course offered by SMU at the time. After graduating in the top 15% of her class, she honed her skills as a litigator and settlement negotiator working for her mother, Linda Risinger. She remains a proud and dynamic part of that mother-daughter team today. Megan has grown up in the courtrooms of Dallas, Denton, and Collin Counties. She understands that court appearances can be uncomfortable and even scary for many clients. If early resolution is not possible, she will take the time to prepare the client and the facts to make the process as comfortable as possible while she fights for your voice to be heard and your situation to be understood by the court.
