I had a land dispute with a neighbor that Attorney Alford assisted with, I used the firm because they represented me when I bought the house 28 years ago. Because of that they had prior knowledge to the property and were able to fairly and easily assist with the process. The end result was in my favor with no 'pain'. Stuart Alford was a pleasure to work with and I have and will continue to work with him. Larry

Anyway, here is the great review you posted about me as a google review: Stuart Alford knows his stuff. Great lawyer. I am honored and privileged to have him on my side. He was able to help me obtain a large settlement for a motorcycle accident I was involved in. He explained things every step of the way and in the end was able to help get a settlement that I was very happy with. I would not want to be on the other side of this tenacious and knowledgeable man. He also is compassionate and principled.

Beginning in the early 2000s, attorney Stuart Alford has represented our organization in multiple facets of the rental business, from initially setting up our business model to assisting us in closings on multifamily properties. We've also enlisted his services over the years in evicting and getting financial judgments against problem tenants in a timely manner. Being a landlord in Massachusetts can be tricky, and it's important to have an experienced attorney on your side.

Attorney Stuart has not only given me sound legal advices and performed valuable services, he explains things in a way I can undertand. He goes the extra mile and is cheerful and friendly when he does it. Truly outstanding in the best sense of that overused word.

Over the years, Mr. Alford has handled many different legal issues for me and my family, and he always does so with the utmost professionalism. He is extremely knowledgeable about the law and has set my mind at ease during some difficult situations. I would go to Mr. Alford with any legal concern, and I highly recommend him to anyone in need of a caring, compassionate legal expert.

Stuart gave extremely helpful legal advice on a very stressful situation. He listened carefully to my case and asked relevant questions. He is very trustworthy and made me look at the full picture of the case with many options and scenarios to contemplate. More importantly, he is very prompt and returns calls without much delay. I would highly recommend Stuart for your legal needs.

Rude man. Not helpful. Wrong advice. I called him twice asking for help with landlord/tenant rights. He brushed me off completely. Not a nice man.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
