Verified ClientHired Law firm 2024-2025Extremely satisfied with the company. Adron gave me plenty of advice and answered questions even before I started. Really appreciate the firm as I grew up hesitant with attorneys, their billing, and as a business owner. know their appetite for mucking things up. Overall, they were great in my case, and the work they did in helping me sell my business.

Verified ClientHired Law firm 2015-2025I was able to get my estate documents reviewed yearly and they walked me through things that a.i. would have messed me up on! They have a wealth of knowledge with the attorneys they have in the area. Tap into the ones that suit your needs.

Verified ClientHired Law firm 2024-2025After 22 years of running my business, I finally decided it was time to retire, and Barnes Walker was right there to help me through one of the biggest transitions of my life. From the very beginning, they understood how much this meant to me and made sure every detail was handled with care and professionalism. They took the time to explain each step, and I always felt like I knew exactly where things stood. The team worked together seamlessly to make the entire process smooth from start to finish. The paperwork, negotiations, and all the behind-the-scenes work were done efficiently, and they made what could have been a stressful experience surprisingly easy. Their communication was excellent, and I could always count on them to be one step ahead. Looking back, I could not have asked for a better group of people to handle my business sale. They treated me with respect, kept everything organized, and guided me with confidence and kindness. Thanks to their help, the sale went through beautifully, and I’ve been able to step into retirement with peace of mind knowing everything was done right.

Verified ClientHired Law firm 2024-2025Choosing an attorney is a very personal and one of the most important and expensive decisions you will ever make. I can only give my experience with this firm and hope it helps someone in making a decision. Upon our first meeting with a partner and another attorney, we were advised they would take our case. We were paired with an attorney who was fairly new and inexperienced in the type of case we had, unbeknownst to us. Communication was extremely poor and very few of our questions were answered, emails not responded to, and phone calls seldomly returned. We had done a lot of the background work and submitted documentation, and we were told by our attorney, “you’re making my job easier” and “you’ve done a lot of my work”, but after almost a year, we were no further along than when we started, but $10,000 poorer with very little answers to the valid questions we had. There were documents and interrogatories submitted to the court that we found ourselves by going to the Manatee County Court website that we were never told about or given to us by our attorney. We were always told by this attorney, “I’ll have to ask “so and so” to find out an answer to that question, only to never get our answer. It was only after a new partner started, eight months after we started, that we had some of our questions answered. By then, for us it was too late. All through the process we were told by our attorney we had a strong case. In our opinion, by saying that, the firm was able to bill us more money to string us along. In disgust, we eventually dropped our case. We had very poor counsel and I would never use this firm again, nor would I recommend due to our experience with them. We take responsibility for not dropping them sooner, but that does not justify their poor service.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
