I cannot say enough good things about attorney Jody.? I initially called Jody on Saturday at 9 AM and got a call back from her by 1 PM. As with legal matters, it was very important to me to be represented by someone I could reach?any time it was needed.?She was upfront with her fees, and there was no retainer until she spoke with the opposing?counsel and it was certain she could help me. As promised, I got a call the?Monday that followed, and she started representing me.The outcome, Jody helped me navigate and survive the divorce and saved me thousands?of dollars on my settlement. Why Jody was a good fit for me:? -Jody was recommended by two other attorneys -- that said a lot to me! -When we first?spoke on the phone, her personality type came across?clearly, and I knew we would work well?together.-Jody knew the?opposing counsel -She was more than fair on her fees. I never felt she was overcharging -She was very straightforward with me -- which helped me let go of the trivial things I wanted to fight for that would have?ended up costing more on attorney fees. -I am very organized and proactively?provided everything needed to work on the financial figures of the settlement.? -I let her do her job. Most of the time, she would be updating me on the progress every few days. -There was no drama, and I never had to deal with the opposing counsel or the divorcing spouse.? I could have not gone with a better attorney to represent my case. Jody has my seal of approval.

I recently decided to use Jody Miller for my divorce. I cannot recommend her as an advocate for mens rights. She constantly pushed me to settle my case. She was easily frustrated and automatically believed what the other side claimed (even though not true). My representation with Jody Miller was terminated and it was the best thing that happened for me in my divorce. I ended up getting a much better settlement in my favor than I would have had I listened to Jody and taken the settlement offer she pushed me to take. Either she doesn't push hard for men's rights or easily intimidated by other lawyers. I would select other representation if I were you!

She is a terrible lawyer, and dishonest. And she over talks people. She has no direct knowledge on what to do. She doesn't stand up for her clients. And leaves you with no hope. And most of all she lacks confidence.

Did absolutely nothing for my case. Constantly yelled at me and threaten to withdraw if I didn't listen to her. She made my situation worse I was better off representing myself. Would not recommend to anyone.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
