Joseph Miller was wonderful to work with. He explains everything and does not waste time or money. We had a difficult situation that was handled beautifully by Joe. I will be recommending him to my own clients after our families experience.

Highly recommend this firm. Joe will go to bat for his clients. He is also bilingual so that is a plus!

Boyd Hawkins aided me in the employment law arena navigating a Non Compete agreement. Mr. Hawkins took time to understand why I was questioning the validity of said agreement, reviewed the documents in full, and got to work devising a plan with me. I was involved in each step of the process and privy to the communication between the entity and Mr. Hawkins as my attorney. The request for release was appropriately advocated with Mr Hawkins going above and beyond to promote a resolution. I am fortunate as we had a favorable outcome. Regardless, I would highly recommend Mr. Hawkins and this team of professionals. Truly, I cannot adequately express my gratitude for the efforts put forth and the support I felt in pursuit of this endeavor working with Boyd. Thank you.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
