In January 2020, Ms. Zuckerman merged her employment law firm, Zuckerman & Fisher, LLC, with the long-established Princeton firm, Mason, Griffin & Pierson, P.C. Elizabeth Zuckerman is committed to representing clients in Princeton, New Jersey, as well as those in Middlesex, Mercer and Somerset counties, and through the state. She focuses her practice on handling employment law cases that involve matters such as discrimination, harassment, failure to accommodate, employment litigation, employment agreements and severance packages.
In 1982, Ms. Zuckerman graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Michigan. She went on to receive a Juris Doctor in 1986, from the University of California, Davis, School of Law, where she served as executive editor of the school's law review.
Suffering discrimination in the workplace or a wrongful termination can be emotionally and financially devastating. Ms. Zuckerman serves as a compassionate advocate for people who have employee rights concerns. More than three decades of experience in employment law gives her the background necessary to handle each case efficiently, while keeping in mind her clients' goals.
Ms. Zuckerman focuses on getting to know her clients, thoroughly understanding their situation and then striving to provide them with the best possible representation. A skilled negotiator, she is adept at reaching a settlement when possible, but she is prepared to go to trial when necessary. In one groundbreaking case that Ms. Zuckerman successfully argued before the Supreme Court of New Jersey, she opened the door for wronged employees to recover compensation from their employer's workers' compensation policy in discrimination suits.
A published author, Ms. Zuckerman is a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Mercer County Bar Association, the Princeton Bar Association and the National Employment Lawyers Association-New Jersey. How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
