Having more than 45 years of experience, Ron Mullin and the other members of the Mullin Law Firm have helped people protect aging loved ones and family legacies. At our office in Concord, California, we counsel clients through complex estate planning procedures. Our attorneys are highly skilled in analyzing family situations and drafting documents that provide the tools for dealing with the multitude of situations that may arise, such as handling assets and heath care decisions. These documents include wills, trusts, advance health care directives, conservatorships and powers of attorney. We also routinely assist with probate and estate administration to ensure that family wishes are honored.

Beyond our focus on estate planning, our law firm offers representation for broader elder law matters. Using our deep knowledge of Medi-Cal long term care eligibility, estate recovery lien avoidance and other regulations, we help clients protect and care for aging loved ones while legally preserving assets. Our attorneys also handle inheritance litigation issues involving trustees, executors and administrators. Whenever possible, we seek to resolve disputes through informal discussions or mediation to avoid going to trial. But if the situation demands aggressive representation at trial, we are ready! We work with our clients, listen to them and counsel them on decisions that achieve their goals and provide value to them.

In addition to elder and estate matters, we handle select business and commercial law cases. We have helped entrepreneurs and business owners form entities, including corporations, partnerships, limited liability partnerships and limited liability companies. Our attorneys also assist with the drafting and negotiation of contracts. If necessary, we intervene in disputes and also litigate business matters. Mullin Law Firm welcomes clients from the greater Contra Costa County area, including the cities of Walnut Creek, Alamo, Danville, San Ramon, Lafayette, Orinda, Martinez and Pleasant Hill. We provide detailed monthly bills and accept Visa, MasterCard and PayPal as an accepted form of payment.

I?m a legal aid lawyer on the east coast, trying with my wife to arrange the best care for my mother-in-law, who broke her hip while visiting family in Concord. She ended up staying in Concord, upending all our planning for her care in Arizona, where she had been living. Ron Mullin was recommended by CANHR and at two critical junctures in our planning he has provided our family with knowledgeable and well targeted advice. He was respectful and patient with us and he went out of his way to make my mother-in-law feel included and important during our discussion. Having been on the other side of the desk for similar consultations, I was impressed and grateful. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an elder law attorney in the Bay Area. On two separate occasions Ron Mullin has consulted with

I was in the Virgin Islands and needed some information from an old trust that the Mullin law firm had revised for me?and I needed the information right away. I left a voice mail detailing my request several hours before their office opened and 1/2 hour after they opened I had the information and also a noye to contact them if I needed any further help. Really excellent service!

My husband and I needed help to prepare our financial affairs in light of a worsening medical condition. I will be forever grateful that Ron Mullin Law Firm was recommended to me. Because of Ron?s knowledge, experience, and true desire to help his clients, we are now protected. That is one of the most comforting feelings to know that what we worked for all our lives is safe for us and for our family after us. Ron made sure of that. He is an excellent attorney and a wonderful human being.

Ron Mullin & Evelyn O'Dell have been extremely helpful in taking care of my deceased family member's estate. They were both quite knowledgeable, informative, patient and responsive. Additionally, they assisted me with a separate situation regarding a family member's conservatorship. I had zero knowledge of what was necessary to resolve an unplanned estate, nor how to deal with a conservatorship. Ultimately, Ron Mullin, and his legal Assistant, Evelyn O'Dell, proved to be invaluable. I was very pleased with their actions and guidance in resolving the matters as soon as possible.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
