Exceptional Representation Across The Full Spectrum Of Family Law Matters

Going through a divorce or fighting for custody of your children are things no one wants to experience. When facing these battles, you need a strong attorney by your side to help you find reasonable solutions and protect your interests. I am attorney George L. Metcalfe, and since my admittance to the Florida Bar in 1988, I have helped clients with their complex family law challenges.

With an educational background, including an MBA and graduate tax study, I am also admitted to the U.S. Tax Court. Outside of my legal practice, I am a Florida Supreme Court Historical Society member. I founded the Legal Clinic at the Rupert J. Smith Law Library. I received the Pro Bono Publico award from Florida Rural Legal Services for my years of public service.

Through thorough and detailed preparation, I am committed to promoting my client’s best interests and helping them meet their goals. I understand how sensitive and complex many family law issues can be. I know how to balance the emotional aspect of these cases with the need for creative strategies to solve complex problems. If you have a family law issue, George Lambeth Metcalfe, P.A., is here to help you. My paralegal, Christina Busby, also brings a wealth of experience. She is well-regarded for her hard work and dedication to clients.

Complex Problems Require Creative Solutions

From preparing for marriage with a prenuptial agreement to complex property divisions after divorce, I can help you through every stage of your marriage or child custody case. In divorce cases, I have experience representing clients in equitable property division and high-asset divorces and providing guidance on financial obligations in divorce and tax-related concerns.

I can help you with a wide variety of family law problems, including:

  • Divorce
  • Adoptions
  • Child custody and support
  • Interstate and international child custody
  • Prenuptial and postnuptial agreements
  • Complex property division

Complex disputes can be solved rationally and creatively. Litigation is not the best option in many cases. I have years of experience utilizing alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation and negotiations to meet my client’s goals. I work one-on-one with my clients to get to know their cases and ultimate goals. I focus on solutions that will not only meet their short-term needs but also positively impact their future.

Transparent And Rational Family Law Representation

I approach every case with high transparency and provide clear, rational resolutions to some of the most complex family law problems. Contact me today to schedule a consultation and learn more about how I can help you. I have offices in Miami, Vero Beach, and Fort Pierce. I also offer virtual consultations over Zoom for your convenience. Call the office at 786-744-4954 or fill out an online contact form to get in touch.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
