Kathryn Beck is sharp, knows the law and understood our situation immediately. She is to the point and knows and explains the facts about the law very clearly we are so fortunate to have had her represent us she always responded immediately to our phone calls or emails. Her guidance and representation was impeccable. She successfully handled our case.

Kathryn was chosen as the mediator for my divorce matter and I couldn?t have been happier. Although tough on me at times, she was incredibly beneficial in resolving some very tough issues. At the end of the day, court was avoided due to Kathryn?s experience and expertise. For anyone looking for a great mediator that can facilitate the resolution of complex issues, look no further than Kathryn Beck.

I had signed a contract with a siding company in July, but by August, I needed to sell my house. Unfortunately, the siding company was not committing to a date when they would actually start the work. In September, I was wondering if the job was ever going to get done and it was holding up my ability to sell my house and move on with my life, so I contacted Thom Nolan. Thankfully Thom was able to get involved immediately to help with negotiations and the project was started in October. I put my house on the market the day the siding job was completed (even though there were still construction materials on the driveway), it was under contract within a week, and the closing just happened this past week, the first week of December. I honestly don't know how this would have turned out without Thom's involvement, I am sure that without him, I would have been strung along for several more months.

Kathryn Beck was assigned as the Decision Maker in my post-decree case per an agreed stipulation. I give Kathryn all the praise in the world for taking on this role and putting herself in the middle of two opposing sides. During the 2 years Kathryn was assigned as Decision Maker we utilized her services 3 additional times besides the main issue she was initially assigned to resolve. Kathryn was fair and followed the law and orders in place at all times to provide her judgements. My suggestion to any that utilize her services would be to have faith in Kathryn?s ability to render a fair ruling by removing both parties? attorneys and working with her directly. Attorney involvement complicated the issues and increased fees when the purpose of using Kathryn is to reduce costs and find a quicker resolution. I would highly recommend using Kathryn?s services as a Decision Maker if in need of one. Although my only experience with Kathryn was as a Decision Maker I can only assume that she would provide similar outcomes if looking for legal representation in other matters.

Our family was referred to Thom Nolan of Beck, Jonson and Nolan, PC from Oliver Owen of The Oliver Law Firm. We had a complex case and we were pleased to have found an attorney that was strong, knowledgeable, timely and affordable! He was fantastic at communication and explaining each step in the process. We felt confident in his abilities and are happy to have found our new family attorney for any future legal matters. We highly recommend Thom to others seeking professional counsel!

I never thought I would find myself needing a lawyer, but a friend of mine recommended Nick Jonson and now I know why. Nick's knowledge of the law and his years of experience give him a strong sense of when a situation truly warrants legal concern. In addition, Nick did a great job of explaining all of the "legalese" to me so that we could make decisions together about how to proceed. Nick was always well-prepared for court, never missed a deadline, and several times he had to go above and beyond to keep the legal case on track. Nick's reputation precedes him, and I could not have chosen a more fair and ethical lawyer to represent me. I am grateful for everything that Nick has done on my behalf.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
