1.0 out of 5 stars

We received a certified demand letter that We pay the lawyer $150 and late fee of $50. A payment was had paid on time, but Sunwest escrow returned our check after the grace period due to the account number not being on the check. The letter was mailed after the payment had already been remitted! No one took our calls initially and then a week later we heard from a lady named Ginger who is supposedly their paralegal and told us sorry, but nothing could be done. So we made a complaint with the attorney generals office who stated that they have had multiple complaints with this firm and sunwest escrow.

Received a very threatening letter demanding that I pay the lawyer 25% in excess of a payment that had been paid within the grace period. The ironic and most disturbing thing about the letter was that it was mailed two days after the payment had already been remitted! The amateur and boorish nature of this law office is beyond any I have dealt with in my entire life! I would absolutely not recommend anyone to deal with them as a client - they will embarrass you immensely by sending out strongly worded letters poorly timed! I will be making this review as far and wide on any and every review site I can find!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
