The Firm represents individuals and corporate entities in regulatory and grand jury investigations, trials and appeals, and federal sentencing guideline and post-conviction issues. The Firm has acted as counsel in investigations and cases involving environmental crimes, health care, criminal tax, insurance, securities and mail fraud, money laundering, federal asset forfeiture and international extradition cases, and administrative, attorney ethics, and disciplinary matters.

Neal R. Sonnett, the Firm's Managing Partner, is a former Assistant United States Attorney and Chief of the Criminal Division for the Southern District of Florida. He received his J.D. degree from the University of Miami School of Law in 1967.

A nationally respected trial lawyer, Mr. Sonnett has been profiled by the National Law Journal as one of 10 of the "Nation's Top Litigators" and one of the "Nation's Top White Collar Criminal Defense Lawyers." He has been selected three times by that publication as one of the "100 Most Influential Lawyers In America," he is listed in every edition of "The Best Lawyers in America," and was named as one of the four "Most Respected Attorneys in Miami" by Miami Today in June 1996.

Mr. Sonnett currently serves as a director and member of the Executive Committee of the American Judicature Society, as chair of the ABA Coordinating Committee on Immigration Law, and as president of the Spellman-Hoeveler American Inn of Court in Miami, Florida.

He is a former chair of the ABA Criminal Justice Section, which he now represents in the ABA House of Delegates, and is past president of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He was a member of the ABA's High Profile Trial Resource Team and the ABA Coalition for Justice, and served on the Executive Committees of the ABA Section Officers Conference and the National Conference of Bar Presidents.

Mr. Sonnett is a past president of the Florida Bar Foundation, which administers the Bar's Interest on Trust Accounts program and awards grants to provide greater legal assistance to Florida's poor and improve the administration of justice. He has also served as president of the national Metropolitan Bar Caucus, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Dade County Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association, South Florida Chapter.

Mr. Sonnett received the 1989 Florida Bar Foundation Medal Of Honor Award, the highest award that can be bestowed upon a lawyer by the legal profession in Florida, for "his dedicated service in improving the administration of the criminal justice system and in protecting individual rights precious to our American Constitutional form of government."
