With my son was facing a serious legal issue, we reached out to Melissa Segers (O'Malley & Sawyer, LLC). She responded immediately, put the situation in perspective and provided excellent legal advice based on her extensive experience. This was truly reassuring (and immensely appreciated!) in the middle of a family crisis. What impressed me the most was how Melissa could be remarkably efficient, but at the same time be compassionate, understanding and supportive. Melissa?s advice kept the entire situation from getting out of control. I am certain that the outcome would have been completely different without her help. We were incredibly fortunate to have Melissa on my son?s side and our family will always remember and appreciate what she did for us.

I recently hired Mr Blasewitz for my criminal defense attorney on a felony case drug related I?m habitual offenders see and although it was years ago colorado doesn?t care and I was looking at over 6 years . I ended up with two years probation and 30 day home detention . So I?d say he?s a awesome lawyer and recommend him. He?s also very quick responding to calls or emails . Very reasonable as far as cost goes .

I had a very favorable experience with Sawyer Legal Group. Jonathan and his team of colleagues were very compassionate, considerate, and resourceful throughout our process and my case. They always responded in a prompt and timely manner, and I always received professional and meaningful advice that made sense to a non-legal person. I would highly recommend Jonathan and his services at Sawyer Legal Group. I would trust his legal services again.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
