Hired Law firm 2001-2024I have used Mr. Richard J. Corbitt III on multiple cases for over 20 years. This man has saved my life and my family's lives. I first used him starting in 2001 for my divorce, then for a DWI 2ND, DWI 3RD and a few other cases back in the 2000's and the final disposition was always in my favor. I just used him again this year 2024 and what started as a Felony case was dropped to a misdemeanor then a dismissal. If it wasn't for his knowledge of the law and using it for his clients benefit mine and my wife and kids lives would not have been as good as it's been for the last 23 years. He kept me and my family together and kept me out of trouble. He's the most ethical attorney I've met. He studies the law and uses it to properly defend and represent his clients. I know and have met many attorneys in my lifetime and as a small business owner. He is what other lawyers I know refer to him as a lawyer's lawyer. I've trusted him with my wife, myself and kids lives and he has never let me down. He is the best lawyer I've ever known in my 49 years of life. I would and have recommended him to several people over the past 26 years since I met him. You will not find a better lawyer for criminal, divorce or family law!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
