\[Testimonial] When I found myself in the midst of a child custody battle, I knew I needed the best legal representation to navigate the complex journey that lay ahead. The stakes were high, as my child's mother had plans to move to Germany, threatening to uproot the foundation of our custody arrangement. After countless disappointments and skepticism from other lawyers, I was beginning to lose hope. However, my determination led me to Glen, the 12th and final lawyer I interviewed. From the moment we met, his confidence and unwavering belief in preventing my child from being taken to Germany instilled a newfound sense of hope within me. What impressed me most about Glen was his ability to truly understand the unique dynamics of my relationship with my child. He was not just another attorney; he became a collaborative partner who encouraged brainstorming and out-of-the-box thinking to craft a winning legal strategy. In the end, his expertise, knowledge, and exceptional problem-solving skills proved invaluable. Glen's dedication to my case went far beyond the courtroom. He embraced our journey as not just a legal matter but as an opportunity to make a lasting impact on my child's life. I will forever be grateful for his legal representation and the friendship we developed along the way. Thanks to Glen's unwavering commitment and tireless efforts, the outcome of the custody case was a resounding success. Custody was awarded to me, ensuring a positive resolution and the preservation of the relationship between my child and me. I wholeheartedly recommend Glen Rabenn to anyone in need of a legal champion. His remarkable ability to understand, strategize, and deliver results is unparalleled. It is a great privilege to be able to give my highest and unqualified recommendation for Glen Rabenn! For all of us who end up working with Glen professionally, we come to him with a myriad of emotions after a marriage has ended; anger, sadness, depression, confusion, loss, and perhaps, a fear of the legal system. I came with all-of-the-above, as I had been married for almost 35-years. Glen Rabenn is outstanding in his field and must be in the upper tier of the top 1% of Family Law attorneys! In representing his clients, he brings vast experience, intelligence, and a phenomenal understanding of the law, in preparing a clear plan going forward. But, for me personally, I also want to speak about his ability to sincerely understand the pain, loss, and confusion of this life-altering situation in which we find ourselves. These qualities build trust, which is essential in working through such personal issues. Glen has been practicing Family Law for over 50-years, but he never makes you feel like your questions are silly, that your feelings are unfounded, that your confusion is tedious, or that your anxiety is annoying; it is just the opposite. He makes you feel like you are his only client, and he has the understanding to bring you through the entire process with reassurance and confidence. He took the ?fear of the unknown' away and after every conversation I always felt more peaceful and reassured. Glen not only helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel, but he also actually patiently brought me through the tunnel. After the divorce had been settled, my ex-husband, now living with a girlfriend and her two dogs, decided that he wanted to split the custody of our very old, and medically challenged dog. He filed legal papers with the threat that if I did not comply, he would seek full custody of our dog. I had no choice but to seek legal help. I was told by everyone that pet custody had to be evenly split, like all other possessions. But Glen was aware of a new January 1, 2019 provision for pets' rights, and our dog would be his first case in representing HER rights as our pet! In essence, the court was now empowered to make a ruling of sole or joint ownership, taking into consideration the "care" of the pet. Care included "food, water, veterinary care and a safe and protected shelter". In making his legal argument, Glen considered our dog's advanced age, the temperamental challenges of her breed, and the vulnerabilities to her health. Fortunately, we were able to finally settle out of court and our dog is now able to spend most of her time in the security of her home in which she is most comfortable and happy. For those of you who consider a pet to be like a child, I would encourage you to take the legal steps that can empower a pet, without any voice, to be spared the trauma of changes to their environment during a divorce. Glen?s preparation was so thorough, convincing and complete, corroborated with statements and records from our vet, that we were able to amicably settle out of court, in our dog?s best interest. I remain the primary caregiver to this day. My only regret in this experience was in not hiring Glen from the beginning, when I was actually given his name with the highest recommendation! But in my desire to "save money", I really jeopardized my dog?s and my future. When I finally came to him, I was "Humpty-Dumpty", in pieces! He not only put me back together financially, (correcting a previous significant error in my pension) but he also helped restore my confidence and gave me my power back. This was an intangible benefit that was the result of not only his vast legal knowledge and experience, but his heart for people. He not only brought "all the king's horses and all the king's men" to my legal rescue, but through his kindness and understanding...I got my confidence, my smile, and my laughter back into my life! This man, Glen Rabenn, rescued me AND my dog! With sincere appreciation, DVG

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
