Orlando DUI Lawyer

At our Orlando-based law firm — Private Counsel, LLC — we focus intensively on criminal defense for people accused of crimes in many counties in Florida. Our attorneys are licensed to practice in all Florida counties. We have represented thousands of people with a range of criminal charges, from drunk driving to criminal traffic offenses, possession and sale of drugs, violations of probation, federal cases and domestic violence, to name a few.

Our law firm is dedicated to beating the charges you are facing, protecting your freedom and your driver's license. To get the best possible results, we use years of EXPERIENCE. Experience means that we investigate how prosecutors and judges typically treat cases like yours. It also means that we know what to do to protect your rights and defend you — and that we can sometimes prevent charges from being filed or get charges dismissed and/or dropped to a lesser offense. In the event we need to go to trial on the case, we will fight as hard as possible to get you acquitted.

There are many reasons to choose Private Counsel, LLC:

  • EXPERIENCE, EXPERIENCE, EXPERIENCE
  • DUI PRO
  • Affordable and personable
  • Free and confidential consultations
  • Payment plans available

  • Hablamos español

At Private Counsel, LLC, our managing partner, Shon Douctre, uses his many years of legal experience to fight hard for his clients. He is a breath test operator and a breath test maintenance technician; which helps him successfully represent people accused of drunk driving.

Florida criminal law — including the law in DUI cases — is technical and sophisticated. The law always changes and involves harsh penalties that can ruin a person's life or livelihood. That's why it's critical to choose an attorney who focuses his or her career in the given area of law. Shon Douctre is affordable and experienced. At Private Counsel, LLC, criminal charges, DUI and traffic tickets are the main focus of the practice.

We only fight for people accused of crimes, and our lawyers have proudly never worked on the side of the police or the prosecution to prosecute someone such as yourself. We take every action possible within the bounds of the law to make sure that your rights are protected from those prosecuting you.

"I got you" are actually the three best words you could ever hear. "I love you" is irrelevant and kinda shallow compared to "I got you"... When you get arrested, you are not in a good place. You can't think, you can't understand short-term things. You know that you are subjected to complying to the Police, but it's all very confusing and upsetting, to say the least. When I got out of jail (spent the night) and "The Process" started, I was referred to Shon Ductre. And that was the best thing that ever happened.... After 1 day of manic phone calls to him... sobbing,, seemingly crazy, not knowing if I'd lose all my income and just check-out (yes, I said that) he answered me within 24 hrs and took my info (which he already knew by Public Record) and said this.... "I got you." He. Alone. Had. Me. Not my gal pals calling foul, not my family sighing and saying, "If you need anything..." *whimper* Nope. Shon didn't just step-up, Shon Douctre did all the work while I was crying under a blanket. As I type this I realize how traumatized I was by my WPPD "stop". But Shon Douctre said, "I got you." And he did. He is worth his weight in gold. The best three words of "I got you" are actually better to hear than the visual of "We Won" that he wrote on his legal pad next to me while the Judge was giving her recommendation in my court case. If you have been arrested by The Law for any reason, I recommend Shon Douctre. He'll not only hold your hand through the legal processes, up to the day and in court, he will listen to your rants, sorrow, insecurities and ultimately... your Humanity. And that's what matters. Shon Douctre understands. Much better than the arresting officer. ?

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
